A Living Room of Tasting Menus at Le District

Description

If you guessed that next week would see you sipping a Negroni variation named for a French fencer, you, friend, have a gift that should be explored.

And you definitely won’t be surprised at L’Appart, a tiny living room of a tasting menu spot from a former Daniel chef, opening Wednesday in a hidden corner of Le District.

First things first: finding the place. Walk in through Brookfield Place into Le District, hang a right just past the butcher district, find the wooden double doors with the ever-so-classy, ever-so-discreet “L’Appart” sign, and you’re in.

Once you are, you get a glass of punch. That’s just basic hospitality. You and the date you obviously need to bring here are hopefully by now at one of the two-tops with the sofas, and you’re ready to taste things.

Such things are up to the chef and will change all the time, as those things do. But right now, we have photos of masterfully plated candied-strawberry-topped seared foie gras served over pain d’épices, with rhubarb and wild strawberries from Spain… and other things that are increasingly mouthwatering as you read what they’re composed of.

Should you want cocktails that specifically go with the food you’re eating, the head waiter will be right over with the bar cart to make them for you.

Feel free to stroll on over to the counter and have a chat with Chef Nicolas. He’s good people and things are supposed to be intimate here. And since terrace season is fast approaching, they went ahead and secured one of those, too.

They took a chance you’d be okay with it.
