That place you go to grab some tacos if you’re near Block 37 if it’s lunchtime.

That’s a lot of “ifs.”

Well, Pueblo is the latest addition to chef Richard Sandoval’s food hall and offers a few new reasons to visit whenever the hell you want. Take a look around.

Let’s start with the bar of this “abuela-style” restaurant. In this tile-covered nook is where you’ll start your evening with one of those hibiscus margaritas. Or a sangrita-spiked Banderita. Or maybe the assortment of Five Rabbit cervecas on draft is more appealing.

Already, things are noticeably different about this food hall experience. The strings of lights are dimmer. The not-unattractive wooden tables are cleaner. You don’t have the urge to leave after 20 minutes. Then, a server comes to escort you to your table.

Between the vibrant murals and open kitchen, sit down for the cooking of chef Pablo Salas of Mexico’s Amaranta. Between the fideos secos and adobo octopus, you’ll point out that this is the same food you’d find in the homestyle fondas of Mexico City. Your comments will promptly be overshadowed by the arrival of red krui pumpkin flan.
