An Attractive Culver City Rallying Point for Oysters and Wine

The gods of summer must like you.

It’s the only conceivable explanation for this fortuitous appearance of an oyster-slinging wine bar.

The only one you’ll entertain anyway.

On to Hayden, an all-day restaurant and wine bar prone to serving delicious bivalves, now open at Culver City’s Platform.

It’s a place to start your day and a place to end your day. Whatever the order, a James Beard semifinalist is doing the cooking, with a spread of marble, suspended vegetation and Tom Dixon furnishings to eat amongst. It’s all rather fetching. Check it out right here if you don’t believe us.

In the morning, come for cast-iron banana bread and crispy waffles with Bayonne ham and soft eggs. Or just stay in bed, staring at the shapes on the ceiling and wondering what it’s all about.

Lunch will look more like a quick prosciutto and burrata sandwich before or after circling Platform to see what new San Francisco- or New York-derived vendor has sprouted up lately.

But evening will be the most enchanting play here. You and a date together amongst innumerable oysters, live scallop crudo, two glasses of Sancerre and some lively chat about something.

Oysters. Banana bread. Maybe ham.
