Beachy Japanese Cocktails, Robatayaki and Ocean Views for Days

Description

South Florida living isn’t so bad.

What with the whole eternal summer thing.

And the beach.

And all those beautiful, ocean-plucked things just waiting to wind up on your plate.

Enter Etaru Hallandale, the new Japanese robatayaki spot in the old Hyde Beach Kitchen and Cocktails space that’s taking those three elements and blending them together for one hell of a date night. It’s open now, and this slideshow definitely errs on the delicious side.

Walking up the stairs, you’ll be greeted by stunning ocean views. Then, once inside, you’ll spot the robata counter, where you’ll also spot the chef (the one from Nobu and Mokoto) doing what chefs do.

Wander past the Brazilian ipe wood walls and the roomy banquettes toward the terrace. Look at the ocean again, but keep heading toward the wraparound bar. Beachy Japanese versions of your favorite drinks will ensue. Hello, cherry blossom martinis and nashi pear Manhattans.

Sip. Laugh. Linger. Then, find your way to a table inside, where the floor-to-ceiling glass doors will make it feel as though you never left that terrace. The yellowtail sashimi with yuzu truffle dressing will sound inviting. Your date will opt for beef fillet with mushrooms. Maybe you’ll share. Maybe you’ll also share a dark chocolate and green tea pudding. Maybe you’ll take a post-dinner dip in the ocean.

You know, first date stuff.
