Description

As far as icebreakers go, telling a date that you’re taking them to an old ice factory could go either way.

Maybe mention that there’ll be churros.

Then proceed directly to Beaker & Gray. It’s a cozy new place for sitting around and partaking in suckling pig, churros and tequila with comely accomplices, and it’s open now in Wynwood. (Here’s the menu.)

But yeah, it used to be an ice factory. Key words being “used,” “to” and “be.” Because looking around, you wouldn’t really know it. In fact, why don’t you look around right here first. Then, prepare to be inundated with rich wood beams, aged Chicago brick and massive bronze chandeliers in person.

Couple of ways you can do this. There’s the aforementioned date route. You’ll want one of the four seats in front of the open kitchen for that. Or you could walk in on your own, claim one of the ottomans in the lounge and take a moment to unwind with a drink.

Speaking of drinks, there’s a Broken Shaker vet on the scene. He’s making things like the WW with tequila, crème de cacao and housemade Thai chili syrup. Which should pair quite nicely with the suckling pig and the savory churros with chorizo and shrimp.

Honestly, we could have put anything there.
