Coffee, Records and a Healthy Dose of Llamas

Description

Sometimes, you just need a cup of coffee.

Other times, you need the Grateful Dead’s American Beauty album on vinyl.

Then, there are those very specific times when you need both.

Enter: Purple Llama, now open and satisfying both your caffeine and music needs in one Wicker Park coffee/record shop. Here’s the slideshow.

You’ll notice the whole purple thing comes into play on the espresso machine and in the neon lights behind the steel coffee bar. They have single-origin Ecuadorian coffee. They have kombucha on tap. They have something called the Dirty Boulevard, which is essentially espresso and tonic. They basically have good things.

You’ll also notice that they’re pretty into llamas. The name pays tribute to Neil Young’s “Ride My Llama,” as does the black-and-white mural complete with, yes, a llama, but also a couple subtle nods to Crazy Horse.

Grab a freshly pressed Black Sabbath or Iggy Pop record with your morning matcha. Have a seat at one of the steel tables with a Floriole croissant and treat your ears to their selection of independent artists on vinyl. Think about the office and how you’re not going there anytime soon.

Fine, you can at least put in a cameo.
