At least in the case of Gemini, it does. Yes, after closing in January, Lincoln Park’s beloved Gemini Bistro reopens Wednesday with a shorter name and a few other notable changes that we’ll get into right after you look at this slideshow.
The Dining Room Then: Dark and sexy with an awkward divider wall in the middle. Now: Less dark, equally sexy with wooden booths surrounded by leather banquettes. Awkward wall’s gone, too.
The Bar Then: Marble with a nice view of a white wall. Now: It moved, which is an impressive thing for a bar to do. It’s nice and U-shaped now with some important whiskey-filled shelves.
The Food Then: Duck confit nachos. Steak frites. You get it. Now: The duck confit nachos make a comeback. The steaks are suddenly slathered in bone marrow butter. And there’s a new bread program that’ll come in handy should you like foie gras mousse with English toast. You probably do.
The Drinks Then: Something called the Squirtsky, which is two types of vodka with grapefruit and lime. Now: The Squirtsky’s on draft. The Velvet Old Fashioned is not. Both are acceptable ways to start or end dinner.
