Imagine you’re dating Lady Gaga.

Things are going great.

You’ve finally gotten used to dressing like a balloon.

And now you’re at that point in the relationship where her father wants to meet you for dinner.

Good thing he’s opening an Italian restaurant.

Welcome to Joanne, a town house of a trattoria on the Upper West Side that’s owned by Gaga’s dad and featuring the family’s favorite recipes, taking reservations now for February 1.

If you’re expecting some avant-garde restaurant where the walls are made out of veal and the pasta is shaped like kazoos, stop.

The aesthetic here is very homey. Exposed brick. Antique candles on every table. A private room with a kitchen-facing window. And a patio out back with a working fireplace (remember this the next time the temperature breaks 40).

If we wanted to be incredibly specific, we’d say walk here immediately after an intimate evening of Stravinsky’s Symphony in Three Movements at Lincoln Center. Otherwise, we’d say come here on a date.

Begin with a flight of mini martinis (served in mini martini glasses) and some wood-fired rosemary focaccia. Both are house specialties. From there: any of the family staples (10 Layer Lasagna, Grandma Ronnie’s Meatballs) will do. Because in the end, all roads inevitably lead to warm Nutella donuts.

Or as you call them, little Nutella monsters.
