Let’s just take a wild leap and assume you’ve never eaten dinner inside of a massive 360-degree video cube.
Welcome to Monkey Town, a cinematic dinner party in a cube unlike any other cinematic dinner party in a cube. Tickets are available now for its swan song in Downtown, running June through October. Check it out.
Thank Brooklyn for this one. It started in a loft there before roving to places like Barcelona and Austin. Now, it’s coming our way for its final run. Expect two seatings nightly for 40 people each. Two of those being you and a date with an eye for art beyond oversized balloon dogs and raining rooms.
The two-hour dinner takes place inside of a seamless, 27-foot cube in a former upholstery warehouse. Inside the cube, dinner is served while 19 short, immersive art videos by 17 different contemporary artists play over the multi-channel walls around you. There’s also a live performance in the middle of the whole thing. Call it a reality cleanser.
As for the food, you’ll receive anything from chicken confit cavatelli to braised short ribs from a vet of Momofuku Ssam Bar in New York.
