Description

Sugar Momma, meet everybody.

Everybody, this is Sugar Momma: a good-looking spot full of good-looking people which you may soon frequent for Australian-inspired dishes and flaming martinis served alongside champagne shots (*gasps for breath*), opening Wednesday in FiDi.

You’ll find it inside of Hole in the Wall coffee shop, a café that’s been serving the work from home and coffee-grabbing crowd well for a year or so. But things change here when the sun goes down. The red lights turn on. The ’90s hip-hop turns up. The downtown folk on casual-ish dates start sipping spicy grapefruit mezcal drinks between bites of edamame-avocado dip topped with pomegranate and goat cheese.

Come by some time with a date of your own and take a seat beneath the token red neon sign or beside the black-and-white images projected on the back wall. Martinis here are set aflame and served with a shot of bubbles, which makes this a good place to start with a couple of martinis. But if you prefer your drinks not on fire, the Spicy Time Margarita (tequila, orange liqueur, lime, jalapeño) or a rum punch will do.

When the  hunger strikes, there’s burrata with melon and prosciutto, truffle beef and ‘shroom burgers with crispy bacon and caramelized onions, and an immensely flavorful soy caramel glazed pork buried beneath a mountain of cabbage and cashews.

Visual evidence of all of the above is right beyond these words.
