Elvis Presley’s “Hound Dog” was a B-side.

So was “God Only Knows” by the Beach Boys.

Ditto “Gloria” by Them.

So open yourself to the potential joys of B Side, an alternate new spot to eat, drink and listen to bands in an intimate setting, now open and attached to House of Blues at Mandalay Bay.

Utilizing the theory that greatness can be found in places that aren’t necessarily expected, this is a small, juke-jointy room with a ceiling covered in the silhouettes of famous performers. With the feeling of a Southern revival house fused to the Hall of Faces in Game of Thrones. Here’s the slideshow so we don’t sound crazy.

You’ll come here with friends to see both local and international performers looking to play for a smaller crowd than what you’ll find next door in the main concert hall. And while you’re there, you’ll sustain your life by eating some down-home grub. And sustain frivolity through the mystical powers of alcohol.

While the band is setting up, you’ll go ahead and order for the table, making sure to get enough duck fat fries with foie gras gravy and Fresno chiles for everyone. Along with some bacon mac-and-cheese, crispy baby backs and fried chicken and waffles. Just to have them.

Meanwhile, drinks will look more like a rum julep with mole bitters or the Orchard Negroni, a mix of tequila and mezcal with apricot brandy, vermouth and orange bitters.

And taste like them, too.
