Okay, so we didn’t win on Wednesday.

But we are getting Dominique Ansel’s first restaurant.

And truthfully, you can’t eat a World Series ring.

So rejoice to find the Cronut creator’s first LA bakery and, right above that, his first-ever-anywhere restaurant, 189 by Dominique Ansel, on the verge of opening at the Grove.

Here’s what to expect in the next seven days:

Weekend Table: This is a daytime, Saturday-Sunday offering that starts tomorrow inside 189’s classically beautiful dining room. Here the chef prepares what he feels like. Then you and your table-mates eat it family-style under a cloud of baby’s breath flowers inside or out on the patio over the Grove’s fountain, adding items to a communal cutting board as things go. Prospects include DIY lobster rolls and crunchy fried chicken.

Dominique Ansel Bakery: This opens in one week at 9am. And yes, on that Friday there will be Cronuts and cookie shots. Plus LA-only sweets like avocado toast ice cream sandwiches and pastry California rolls. That’s so us.

189 by Dominique Ansel: Dinner starts next Saturday. Come in, order a gimlet at the bar, then finally discover what Ansel’s 7-hour lamb shoulder, confit duck gizzards and elote milk bread are like from within a banquette set off by gold wallpaper resembling the crumb of a croissant.

It works on so many levels.
