The Park Café People Are Bringing Their Parkside Goodness to Oakland

The people behind Duboce, Dolores and Precita Park Café are launching their first East Bay venture. It’s called Paradise Park Café, it opens tomorrow, and you can rest assured that they’ll have burgers and fried chicken sandwiches along with weekend brunches. Rest assured of that, friend.

Over Proof Changed Again. This Time There's Gin and Ham.

GIN IT TO WIN IT

Over Proof Changed Again. This Time There’s Gin and Ham.

Over Proof, that shapeshifter of a bar-within-a-bar at ABV, has morphed yet again into Este Oeste. It’s a Spanish-influenced bar with a five-course paired menu that could involve anything from house-cured sardines with jamón to their Don Karlos cocktail with oloroso, lemon, orgeat and gin. Nope. No wrong turns there.

Saturday
New Roll Up Ice Cream Shop. New Ice Cream Festival.

THE COLD AND THE BEAUTIFUL

New Roll Up Ice Cream Shop. New Ice Cream Festival.

Roll Up Creamery & Café has soft-opened inside the V16 Sushi Lounge (just go with it) in the Mission, slinging rolled ice cream and soft-serve. And in other cream-related news, the SF Ice Cream Fest is happening on Saturday with many an ice cream truck, plus outdoor games. Mmm, games.

GET OUT

You’ll Take a Date to This. Just Will.

Outdoor Movie Night returns to Duboce Park on Saturday for a screening of Guess Who’s Coming to Dinner, complete with a concession stand supplying hot chocolate, popcorn and other things that are nice to eat and drink during outdoor screenings of Guess Who’s Coming to Dinner.

Happening: A GoT-Themed Brunch With Menus Changing by the Episode

The night is dark and full of terrors, but the morning is bright and full of Game of Thrones-themed brunches. So head to either location of Friends with Benedicts’ pop-ups for a themed menu that gets updated after each GoT episode. I Want Her to Know It Was Brie French Toast, anyone?

Joe Starkey is the tallest person in the room 90% of the time. He enjoys liquors that aren’t smoky, dive bars that are, and has a vague dread that someone, somewhere might be having more fun than him.
