Basically, these sommeliers pick the best wines from all over the globe. Then they send them to you… a glass at a time. That way, you get exactly what you want, as opposed to being stuck with a mediocre bottle of wine all night. The horror.
THE SHOP-IN-A-SHOP
The Arrivals’ SoHo shop will be hosting a rotating pop-up with other emerging designers all month. Daniel Wellington, Killspencer, Pintrill and Othr will each have their moment of glory, offering some of their signature items and a few collaborations for sale exclusively.
THE FLEETING CHICKEN
The chefs behind LA favorites Animal, Son of a Gun and Jon & Vinny’s will be taking over Shake Shack for precisely three and a half hours tomorrow, doling out crispy chicken sandwiches with spicy pickle slaw and rooster aioli for those willing to wait for ’em. And then only the memories will remain.
THE SMASHING PUMPKINS
Choose a pumpkin, grab an axe, mallet or baseball bat, and go to town. There will also be a costume contest, knife-and-axe-throwing workshops and pumpkin carving, but you know why you’re there. To be Gallagher.
THE EXPLOSIONS IN THE SKY
This Friday, you can go see fireworks on the yacht-lounge-restaurant-rooftop that is Fish Bar, for free. Do that, and then carry on with your Friday-ing—or stay, if you’d prefer to sail around the city drinking bourbon-pomegranate beverages and eating charred octopus. And who could blame you?
THE MUSEUM DATE
Swiss artist Pipilotti Rist transformed three floors of the New Museum into an interactive exhibit with kaleidoscopic projections, glowing orbs in a pixel forest and a communal sleeping room where visitors lie in beds and stare up at the screens above. BYO… you know.
