A French Rendezvous Spot for Pastis and Martinis in West Hollywood

Description

Sometimes all you need in life is a martini. And a suitably attractive place in which to drink that martini. Like La Fête, a small, dark and sexy little French flirt tucked discretely in Norah’s side, opening tonight in West Hollywood. Take a look inside. It appears as if some modern designer’s Palm Beach address hooked up with Philip Marlowe’s office and had a bar. Something about the intersection of fresh flowers, white slatted ceiling, contemporary art and backdrop of built-in vintage files. You’ll squire a date through the bar’s dedicated entrance before or after dinner. Or whenever there’s something stirring between you that needs to be explored over a prolonged-but-relaxed night of drinking and low-key hilarity. If you’ve both read Papillon, you may opt for the pastis service, endowing you with olives and either a straightforward or cocktail form of Paris’s favorite anise-forward aperitif. Or maybe you’ll confess your ignorance and do some wine. Or two martinis that come with sidecars. Or something like le Frappe with Rhum JM, absinthe, matcha coconut cream, pineapple and OJ. Or in time, all of those things.
