Turns out, there’s a better way to root, root, root for the home team.
And it involves four bars, two patios and buffalo chicken served in a waffle cone. Yes, this is much better. This is Brickhouse Tavern, the latest addition to the Park at Wrigley. It’s open now and looks like this.
What you have here is a fancy new sports bar from the Four Corners Tavern Group which simply makes watching a Cubs game a little… well, better. Think baseball bat-covered walls behind leather booths inside and Cabanas with views of the Jumbotron and stadium outside.
Here, you can catch a home game in the only bar in the city with the capacity to air it with no delay. Here, you won’t pay $12 for a Bud Light, but rather will choose from Revolution’s Anti-Hero or a Cucumber Cooler. Here, instead of a line for the bathroom, there’s a hallway lined with every Cubs logo in the history of the franchise.
Peruse a menu of elevated ballpark favorites, where you’ll find that the quintessential Chicago dog is actually a Polish sausage with locally grown tomatoes on a brioche bun. Soon, you’ll be snacking on off-menu Cracker Jack, complete with a hidden prize. But for now, red, white and blue sundaes served in equally patriotic waffle bowls will have to do.
You had your day, bleacher seats.
