From the group behind The Grill, Carbone, Zz’s Clam Bar and plenty of other indulgent NYC gems, comes The Polynesian: an ode to Tiki in the heart of Midtown West.Â
It’s open now inside Pod Times Square Hotel, and here’s what to know about…
The Drinks
Rum-forward cocktails in custom-made ceramic vessels, obviously. But if you’re here with a group, you may want to try one of their large-format cocktails, like The Exotica Bowl (kaffir lime-infused rum with curry leaf, lemongrass, coconut cream and more served in a large snifter, nestled in a clam shell with dry ice. Yeah.) or The Hokule’a Punch, which is a rum-raspberry purée situation served in an actual canoe.
The Sustenance
Pu pu platters with spare ribs, some top-notch crab rangoon, wontons and more.Â
The SpaceÂ
Timber beams and tiki carvings. Bamboo-slated ceilings modeled after island huts. A bar topped with glazed lava stone. Hand-painted murals depicting 18th century Polynesian expeditions. A huge bespoke table topped with a pirate’s map of Polynesia. There’s no missing the theme in this space, which is divvied up into an expansive indoor area and outdoor terrace with sweeping views of the city.Â
