Description

Soaring through Saturn’s rings.

Watching hammerheads do hammerhead things.

Trying to make some sense out of a Dark Side of the Moon laser light show.

All things you can suddenly do now that the Frost Science museum is finally open at Museum Park.

Yes, after five years in the making, (apparently it takes a while to build an aquarium combined with a planetarium combined with a science museum) the strangely day-date-friendly trifecta is finally complete.

Let’s investigate…

The aquarium isn’t your typical aquarium.
They’ve recreated the actual Gulf Stream in a 500,000-gallon tank that takes up three levels of the museum. It’s got sharks. It’s got devil rays. It’s got huge fish that you can look at through the 31-foot porthole below.

You didn’t expect to see the words “Lady Gaga” in here today.
Yet, there’s her music as the backdrop to the planetarium’s rock and roll laser shows, which will happen on the first Fridays of every month starting in June. Zeppelin: also them, yes. Pink Floyd: obviously. You can do normal planetarium things, too, like take a realistic trip into virtual space. “Normal.”

Then there’s the science museum.
That’s where you can explore the creatures of the Everglades, learn why mangroves have that funky smell and pet stingrays.

Oh, and there’s beer and wine.
Sorry, every other museum ever.
