wait out this picture-book blizzard right now.
The general goodness of 57th Street is fully a thing now. Between 5th and 7th avenues, you’ve now got
Betony, Quality Italian, Kingside and… this place.
Which makes it a choice stretch for, say, post-MoMA dates. Especially now that there’s this bad boy around
for lamb racks, cioppino (sort of a greatest-hits-of-the-ocean stew that’s big in San Francisco) and The
Royale—basically, a three-level seafood platter of oysters, clams, mussels, lobster, scallops, crab,
tuna and hamachi.
There’ll be two floors eventually. But for now, focus on the ground level’s serpentine leather booths and marble bar. Focus on the house cocktail—a glass of
bison-grass vodka, lime, agave, baked-apple bitters, celery bitters and black cardamom—put together by a
