It’s a place for sitting at a slab of oak tree beneath a stuffed goat, and digging on some scrumptious
meat pastries…
At least it is at Shelter, a spacious Williamsburg lair of whiskey and Argentine-Italian edibles,
now open.
El Almacen and Rosarito Fish Shack. Same folks behind those created this—a kind of hunting lodge of pizza and empanadas. Which… is a strange combination, yes.
But after running the following equation—Pizza + Empanadas + Moose Horns + Whiskey = A Damn Good
Time—mathematicians have determined the whole thing works just fine.
You’ve got options here. If you’re looking to pour out a little liquor for the late, great summer
weather, pull up a fur-pelted bar stool at the bar and do that. If it’s a date night, you’ve got
Navajo-blanket-covered sofas for the cozying.
But if you’re here to take food consumption to its furthest frontiers, two things: 1) bring a bunch of
people, and 2) good. Your strategy should include some combination of soppressata pizza and empanadas
bursting forth with chorizo, fontina, smoked mozzarella and gruyère.
Just the things you want bursting forth in your life.
