A Mediterranean Beauty From the Cookshop and Vic’s Folks

The team behind Cookshop and Vic’s strikes again.

This time, with a spacious and attractive Mediterranean spot, now open in Soho. 

And how we love it when they strike.

The place we speak of is called Shuka, an all-day beauty you’ll find in place of Hundred Acres behind that sky blue facade on MacDougal. You’ll notice the space looks a bit different: more blue accents, more Moroccan-inspired tiles and pillows, more groups of friends joyfully passing plates of mezze and kebab platters. That didn’t happen here before. 

See, it’s a big space: birthday-appropriate, double or triple date-appropriate, other various group outings-appropriate. Maybe you’re here for something like that. In any case, take a seat. Start with a Monaco (rum, pomegranate, fennel syrup, lemon, vemouth, prosecco), or keep it simple yet still somewhat interesting with a Cairo (neat rye with date syrup). Note the wine list is also significant.

Now, once everyone’s good on the drinks front, let the mezze and small plates start flowing: tomato and peaches with tunisian-spiced tahini, lamb tartare with coriander and harissa, platters of chorizo with fig mostarda and grilled crostini. Perhaps some beet hummus and whipped feta with pistachio. Perhaps a platter of sirloin steak kebabs or tagine with spiced lamb meatballs. We could go on, but instead we’ll leave you with this menu.
