Description

Fine, we’ll just say it…

Here’s a place that’ll let you order as much sushi as you can possibly handle for one set price. The catch: you have to eat everything you order, including the rice, or you’re paying for the leftovers.

So that’s new.

Also, challenge accepted.

At Sushi Taku, a new BYOB-for-now sushi spot in (where else) Wicker Park that’s now open and looks exactly like this.

While that mandatory happy plate situation does actually exist, and might make sense depending on where you currently are with your life choices, there’s plenty else going on here.

You might even be able to pull off escorting a third date to the copper-backed sushi bar to watch chefs prepare fresh yellowtail and red snapper. The dining room is closely guarded by a carved wooden swordfish, which isn’t really relevant, but there you go anyway.

Chicago Rolls with whitefish tempura and asparagus topped with spicy salmon and mayo: check. Color Dragon Rolls with shrimp tempura and eel-topped cucumbers: yes. Booze: no.

Not yet, at least. But you’re welcome to bring your own until they get their liquor license next week, which will lead to plenty of beer, wine and sake.

No word on an all-you-can-drink menu yet.
