If you’ve ever wondered what New York possibly has to teach the world about Southern food…

Yeah. It’s weirdly a lot.

Here’s where we talk about Sweet Chick, an NYC-bred Southern joint that opens Thursday on Fairfax. Let this sink in while perusing the slideshow.

You’ll find the same laid-back, roadhouse spirit here that its East Coast cousins have, complete with numerous artifacts from the golden era of chicken and waffles. Old waffle irons. Poultry art. Fried chicken with bacon-cheddar waffles that everyone around you is ordering. It’s all so real.

But this is no one-trick pony. It’s a restaurant. A real live restaurant where you’ll cap off Fairfax ambles over Christopher Wallace cocktails of aged rum, scotch, maple syrup and whiskey-barrel-aged bitters before trying things with friends.

Different things. Like crawfish hush puppies. And duck-and-short-rib meatloaf. Meatloaf isn’t used to having duck and short rib in it, so be gentle.

Or take a more straightforward path with the eponymous Sweet Chick Bucket. That basically means your three-piece order comes in a bucket.

Only not basically.
