In the year 2015, there’ll be vast, hours-long dedications to waffles, alcoholized tomato juice and portmanteaus. They’ll call these sessions “brunch,” and these will be the best of them for your New Year’s Day.
THE MOBILE OPTION
We understand your New Year’s Eve will be… eventful. So you might be tempted to do nothing on the first. Or you could, say, get on a limo bus where you’ll be hooked up to an IV, demolishing your hangover where it stands, and then taken to brunch. Yeah, do that.
THE LIVE MUSIC OPTION
There’s a trio of things required for any New Year’s Day. And all three of those things are Bloody Marys. Which is why you’ll start out with that, some Cajun tots and a tiny back-of-house concert venue for some neo disco. After the Bloodys, of course. Always after.
THE PIZZA OPTION
In 2014, Marta made their brunch bread pudding on a griddle and topped it with apple-ginger compote. They then made their 2015 resolution, “We resolve to not stop doing that.” And so here you’ll be, with the first of what we hope are many bread puddings in the new year.
THE PARTY OPTION
So you didn’t get home until 5am. Then it dawns on you: there’s no point. Sleeping is futile. You summon yourself to Meatpacking, you fortify with a battery of beignets and croques and, yes, more champagne. At least this time it’s got OJ in it.
THE LATE OPTION
New Year’s Day brunch the way it was meant to be enjoyed: after about 10 extra hours of bed rest. The Mudspot folks are giving you soothing soul music, strong coffee and, of course, the option to not show up until 11pm. Saints, they are. Just saints.
