The Essentials
From a team that knows its way around an Irish bar this tavern-of-yore’s tile floors, globular lights, and photos of early 1900s neighborhood scenes set the mood in its double-barreled bar area, while an English muffin of a back area is highlighted by an old potbelly stove. Thirty taps, 27 of which rotate constantly and have recently included hard-to-find-on-draft brews from Crooked Stave, Off Color, and Quebec’s Le Trou Du Diable, in addition to standouts from local favorites Other Half, Barrier, and Transmitter, deliver ice cold beer. Don’t forget to try their menu of flatbreads, burgers, and fries with a variety of toppings is on offer until midnight (2 a.m. on weekends). Its location next to the Bowery Ballroom makes it perfect for pre- or post-show drinks.
