Uptown World

So you’ve decided to spend some quality time with friends uptown. We figure you’re jonesing for your downtown dining favorites right about now. Fortunately, a lot of them had the foresight to open uptown locations for… just these situations. Go ahead, get comfortable up there.

    Il Mulino Uptown

    FOR SALTIMBOCCA AND A SCENE

    Il Mulino Uptown

Normally: Bill Clinton might take a seat next to you between your sixth and seventh appetizers.

Now: Slick Willie and Bloomberg hashing out the city’s future while you become one with some sautéed clams.

Advantage: A reminder of what civilization can achieve.

    Riff Raff’s Pop-Up

    FOR A PARTY

    Riff Raff’s Pop-Up

Normally: Gramercy’s neon-decked house of tiki and punch bowls is where you’re dancing your night away.

Now: You’re cramming into the Volstead for a three-nights-only version of the same situation.

Advantage: A sense of urgency—always a positive at a party.

Blue Ribbon Sushi Bar & Grill

    FOR YOUR RAW-FISH FIX

Blue Ribbon Sushi Bar & Grill

Normally: You’re getting your broiled eel, live clam and house-brewed sake in SoHo.

Now: Columbus Circle will be handling your bluefin-sashimi cravings with a staid Midtown dignity.

Advantage: A chance to visit the Columbus living-room exhibit while no one cares about it.

    Luke’s Lobster

    FOR PIECED LOBSTER

    Luke’s Lobster

Normally: You’re getting nothing but lobster rolls in the East Village.

Now: You’re getting nothing but lobster rolls on the UES and UWS.

Advantage: Options on either side of the park up here.

    Delmonico’s Kitchen

    FOR OLD-WORLD PORTERHOUSES

    Delmonico’s Kitchen

Normally: Sitting down to an extravagant piece of beef with your climatology consultant in FiDi.

Now: A little more casual affair (third-day outfits will probably fly here) in Chelsea. Oh, and by the way, it just opened.

    Advantage: Significantly drier.

    Brinkley’s Station

FOR A PINT TO TAKE THE EDGE OFF

    Brinkley’s Station

Normally: You’re doing post-work Ommegangs in Nolita.

Now: You’re near the park. Hopefully you don’t even have work. Still, beers though.

Advantage: Did you not read the “Still, beers though” part?
