Description

The Sanderson, like its sister hotel St. Martin’s Lane, is a brightly colored high concept piece of installation art masquerading as a hotel. Thankfully, the avant garde lobby — full of Philippe Starck’s patent menagerie of furniture from Dali’s lips sofa to silver-swanned couch — doesn’t prejudice the comfort of the rooms. Here, the concept is “no-walls” so there are diaphanous curtains that divide the 300 square foot space which contains a queen sized bed and landscape paintings on the ceiling.

And though the rooms are nice, the strength of the Sanderson are in the common areas, like the Long Bar, whose 80-foot length is often fully occupied by hip West Enders and a billiard room encased in stained glass.
