            Caution: More Stylish When Wet

These are good-looking shorts from Lacrosse Playground. Or so you thought. Because they’re so much more
than that: hop into the nearest body of water and they’ve magically turned into swim trunks—with a
pattern that only appears when they’re wet. Boom.

LYNCH PIN

Spend the Night With David Lynch at Ace Hotel...

No, not like that. He’s throwing a festival there in October and you’ll want to get tickets now. It
involves such disparate elements as film screenings, an Ed Ruscha panel, TV on the Radio, Bon Iver, Reggie
Watts and meditating with Brian Eno. And one can always hope, a piñata.

Saturday

MEDIUM RARE

It’s Like Combat, Only With Painting

Lots of art to dive into this weekend. On Sunday, you’ll witness Art Battle, where painters duke it out on
their canvases. But first, Marina del Rey is hosting Art Sea, a beachside jubilee on Saturday featuring
games, eating and a band called Yachty by Nature. Who definitely deserve to be famous.

Sunday

SHELL AND BACK

On Lacing Your Oysters With Japanese Whiskey

Now when you order oysters for brunch at Black Market Liquor Bar, you’ll also get a little bottle of
Kikori Japanese whiskey with a small dropper, which is for applying as much whiskey as you’d like to your
bivalves. The mignonette is fuming right now.

SIMONE SAYS

Taste of the Nation Is Doing Stuff Again

Taste of the Nation returns to Culver City this Sunday with over 40 restaurants. And one of those
restaurants is Simone, which will soon be serving you dinner from a Manresa vet in the Arts District. 39
other restaurants won’t be Simone.

EVER EVER LAND

Your First Look at Ever Bar. Ever.

Beachwood Canyon’s forthcoming Ever Bar is popping up for just a night at Hollywood’s Lost Property on
Monday. All so you can drink cocktails like the “Bone Thighs and Harmony” with duck confit bone broth
and shochu. Getting you to drink that is a bit of an obsession with these guys.

Hadley Tomicki lives in Los Angeles. He is probably going nowhere on the 10 Freeway this very second.
