The New York outpost of Andre Balazs’ LA-based mini-empire was hotly anticipated–and thus far, it’s certainly lived up to its reputation. Straddling the breathtaking High Line elevated park and topped with two of the city’s most exclusive, celebrity-packed nightclubs (Le Bain and the “Top of The Standard”), the Standard is a statement in itself. It’s lively enough for those seeking an exciting stay in New York, but guest rooms are secluded enough that you won’t feel constantly surrounded by partying. Though there’s plenty of that — the lobby bar is quite a scene, the “biergarten” even more so, and the Standard Grill restaurant is a foodie mecca.
The coolest address south of 14th St., the Standard offers stellar views from its notoriously exhibitionist-friendly windows, lodging ranging from decently budget-friendly rooms (especially with the FC member discount) to epic party suites with fully-stocked bars. Your business trip is about to get a whole lot sexier–but, don’t worry, we’ll never tell.
