Sometimes Old Style won’t do.

Sometimes even Three Floyds won’t do.

No. Sometimes you need a beer that’s impossible to find.

Unless you’re at the Beer Temple, which is what happens when Chicago’s favorite rare beer store closes its bottle shop and opens a brand new taproom and bottle shop right next door. It looks like this.

Take a seat at the wooden bar and marvel at your surroundings. Eye candy is limited to one-of-a-kind neon beer signs and vintage serving trays, but you’re not here to look at the walls. You’re here to have your beer-mind blown.

They’re doing things only a guy who dedicated his professional life to beer can do. Things like being one of the only bars in the country with Scratch Brewing Company on draft. Things like offering two-week-old Sierra Nevada Pale Ale. Which, if you’re keeping score at home, is really fresh.

And the new bottle shop offers the same impressive selection as the former corner store. Shelves full of Saison Dupont. A walk-in cooler hiding a rainbow of Mikkeller cans. Plus plenty of local options like Marz Jungle Boogie and Half Acre Double Daisy Cutter. Maybe take one or two of those to go, since that’s also an option.

Though “option” may not be the best word to describe that scenario.
