(Approx 2 hours) You will board the passenger Ferry and cross the Solent, arriving in East Cowes on the Isle of Wight. A five minute drive and you will be at the gates of Osborne House. “It is impossible to imagine a prettier spot” said Queen Victoria of Osborne House. This was the Queens favourite holiday home, and the views across the grounds reminded Prince Albert of the Bay of Naples. After Albert’s death Queen Victoria spent much of her life on the Isle Of Wight. Osborne reflects Queen Victoria and Prince Albert’s passions, tastes and style. Ornate furnishings and artifacts from The Royal Collection fill rooms and corridors where Victoria entertained heads of state, inventors, Princess and Princesses and ruled the vast British Empire. The Gardens and grounds are complete with play houses for the Royal Children and a private bathing beach. Peek into the private world of Victoria and Albert and their nine children, in the nursery and family rooms at Osborne. Visit the queen’s sitting room and see the balcony where Victoria and Albert used to listen to nightingales on a summer’s evening. Prince Albert’s private suite was kept as it was in his lifetime, by Queen Victoria, and many of the things he used at Osborne still lie where he left them. See the queen’s personal bath tub in the dressing room,  and, next door, the bedroom where she died, on 22 January 1901. As you walk through the grand corridors, image the famous men and women who paced the same corridors in years gone by. You will have plenty of time to visit the onsite Cafe’s and Gift Shops.  If time permits, we can take a drive through the countryside on the Isle Of Wight, giving you a taste of what this beautiful Island has to offer.
