Tequila, Mezcal and a Patio

Description

A) Tequila.
B) Mezcal.
C) Tonight.
D) All of the above.

If you answered “D,” congratulations. You’ve just blindly accepted the fact that you’re about to blaze a happy hour trail directly to El Grito. It’s a new quaffing establishment from a guy with a Bar Lab and Broken Shaker pedigree, and it’s now open in Sunset Harbor.

Check this slideshow out. All signs of its former life as the bar next to Burger & Beer Joint have vanished without a trace, and that’s okay. It’s okay…

Because tonight, you’re coming with a parched group of work people, and you’re going to note the Mexican-patterned wall and some local art. After reflecting upon how fun it was to note those things, you’ll decide it’s time to move on.

Perhaps to a Kung Fu Grip with Unión mezcal, port cask rum, chocolate and banana. Or if it’s more of a sipping affair, go for the Sotol Por Siempre. Again, sip. This is the good stuff.

A few other items of great import: you can order a fermented pineapple and spike it with mezcal or tequila, there’s a sunny patio begging for your attention, and they’ll start serving things like street-style pollo en mole burritos later this week.

You’ll just have to subsist on spiked pineapples until then.
