Today Begins Your Training at Sake Dojo

Description

Cue synth-heavy, motivational ’80s song.

Initiate montage now.

There you are. Sake dripping from you chin. Brow furrowed intensely while you learn the differences between Junmai Ginjo and Junmai Daiginjo.

Sweep the leg at Sake Dojo, a new Downtown sake bar and Japanese eatery from the owners of neighboring craft beer stronghold Far Bar, now open in Little Tokyo. Check it out.

Maybe you’ve been meaning to get deeper into sake. Or been on a search to find a rare bottle you haven’t sipped since your last day in Shibuya. Or maybe you just want to get a little more intimate with some sake, Japanese craft beers and Asian spirit-based cocktails with your friends on a Saturday night.

Doesn’t matter the reason. If it’s sake on the mind, you’ll come into this traditional-looking space spread with blonde wood and colorful tattoos running up and down its rafters and plonk down in a seat. Or just sit, if it’s an option.

You may be daunted by all the sake waiting to be poured fresh from a bank of draft machines. Fortunately, there’s a sake sommelier who will take your hand and lead you. Figuratively.

And should times get hard out there, there will be oysters from the raw bar and eats like charcoal-grilled chicken hearts, sushi, miso baby backs and uni-infused udon.

Chicken Heart Dojo would have been a questionable name.
