The noble chicken’s had a pretty rough time of it on earth. We’d like to say it’ll get better for the species. But… no, not today. Because you’re now lusting after Streetbird Rotisserie, part hip-hop museum, part diner, part chicken shack, all from Marcus Samuelsson. It’s open now in Harlem, and here’s what to know: Chicken is mainly performed in the style of rotisserie. And you’re dipping it. That’s just how it’s done here. You’ve got five very different sauce directions to go in. But there’re some fried versions you’ll want to investigate. Including the—and there’s no other way to put this—drool-worthy sandwich in the slideshow. And some Chinese noodles with tofu. And a Swedish-Ethiopian tortilla dish. That’s just how they roll here. Among things you’ll find being ceilings, booths and planters. Converse All-Stars, Louis Vuitton bags, bicycle wheels, drum kits, Adidas bags, subway doors and church pews. A guy who designed Beastie Boys album covers for Def Jam put it together. If Radio Raheem from Do the Right Thing had been a wall, it would be the one here. It’s comprised of many working boomboxes you can plug headphones into should there be a wait. We assume it’s not load-bearing.
