Description

You’ve been up all night. The music is still ringing in your ears. Was that clothing-averse acrobat real or a figment of your imagination? You don’t know… What you do know: you need a little break. The above is just one of many Vegas-y inner monologues that will leave you searching for Salt ‘N Pepper, a cozy new den of Southern comforts from a highly decorated chef. It’s open now in Summerlin, here’s what it looks like, and here’s the menu. It’s a simple-enough place. Red-checkered tablecloths. Some nice-looking white-framed mirrors. A long bar with a person behind it who’ll serve you mint juleps and Lynchburg lemonades. Where it gets interesting, though, is in the kitchen. Because in there is a chef with a fine-dining background making decidedly non-fine-dining Southern foodstuffs. Like deviled eggs with bacon and pecan pies with bourbon sour cream. And fried brussels sprouts, also with bacon. And fried pork chops blanketed in apple-pecan chutney. And fried chicken served alongside sweet potato waffles. And we promise not everything is fried.
