Rich.
The word gets thrown around a lot these days on Abbot Kinney.
Usually in regard to some baby-faced tech-sorcerer hammering a battered laptop beside you at Tom’s.
Not your oxtail ragù.
But things are changing in Venice.
As evidenced by the existence of Felix, a wonderful, wonderful pasta specialist and Italian dinner authority led by the mighty Evan Funke, opening tonight in Venice in this handsome form.
The former Joe’s now comes inked in a mural of Sophia Loren bearing a neck tattoo. Inside, the old bones are recognizable amid the old-world charm. Save for the huge glass box in the dining room’s center containing chefs hand-forming traditional pasta shapes from across Italy.
You’ll probably notice that. Shortly before you and a date call for a round of Haitian Divorces. Those are drinks comprised of mezcal, aged rum, cherry and Pedro Ximénez.
From there, good luck trying to decide what to get. Because you’ll obviously need to try pasta like tonnarelli cacio e pepe. And that pizza diavola at the closest table is looking damn good. But know that he behind the Rustic Canyon burger also has a braised brisket dish on this particular menu.
Everyone’s watching. No pressure.
