Four New Places to Eat and Drink High Above the Downtown Clouds

Description

The way things are going, your next Downtown dinner date may require spacesuits. Or at least Sherpas. Until then, see you up at Intercontinental LA, Downtown’s newest hotel spread among several floors of the West’s tallest new building, Wilshire Grand Center. Your visiting friends can check in on the 70th floor lobby beginning Sunday. And its four restaurants begin serving the dishes you see here starting Wednesday. Including… Dekkadance: It never learned to spell. But this 69th-floor space redeems itself with lunchtime utility by offering pizza, panini, pastry, rotisserie, carving and grab-and-go stations. And a bar. Should you need more convincing. Sora: A sushi spot, also on 69. Take one of the petite private booths for two with its own window overlooking the city. Then comes the Japanese whiskey and imported fish. La Boucherie on 71: An elegant France-meets-wild-west-inspired steakhouse supplying your special occasion dinners with meat from all over. Think Piedmont and Wagyu steaks, plus seafood, 1,200 wines and delectables from a cheese-and-charcuterie cave. You might have to get one of those. Spire 73: You’ve made it to the top. And now, the huge outdoor patio bar there will reward your evening with smoking scallop ceviche, bourbon drinks and views of absolutely everything the city possesses. Someday, this will all be yours. Or not. FRIDAY BONUS: This is the best actor of our generation.
