Yesterday, you watched football. Of course you did. It’s football season now, and that’s what
happens.
Tonight, you go to a vegan spot in the East Village, because you’re complicated like that.
Here’s Avant Garden, the prettiest little vegan date spot you ever did see, from the gentleman
behind Mother of Pearl, Death + Co and Bergen Hill. It’s opening tonight.
In the journey that is life, you’ll inevitably find along the road someone who chooses not to partake in
dishes of meat or dairy, and become attracted to them. When this happens, you’ll want to make sure
there’s some high-quality, also attractive eggplant toast around to reinforce your interest. This is the dance of the dating-a-vegan
period. And that’s where this place comes in handy.
You will immediately notice it’s very small—another excellent characteristic for date spots. Take your
place at the petrified-wood chef’s table. Chat with these chefs. Drink of their ciders and wines. And
just look at the cauliflower.
Also know that the place will be throwing the occasional party (and remember, this guy owned Gin Palace,
so… good parties) to benefit its animal-rights nonprofit.
You’re so damn good at vegan dating now.
