Get Thee to Taquiza for Grasshopper Tacos and Patio Drinks

Attention, Miami.

We are in the midst of a taco invasion.

And it’s a beautiful, beautiful thing.

In recent months, we’ve tasted 222 Taco. We’ve frequented Taco Stand. And now, we’re finally ready for Taquiza. It’s a new taco emporium inside the recently renovated Broadmoor hotel in North Beach, it’s open now, and here’s its slideshow.

There’s an interesting Art Deco/rustic wood/brightly colored Mexican miscellany thing happening here. Ceramic skulls and pots. Pops of blue and hot pink. A six-foot sign with the words “always grinding.” Perfect taco-ing conditions.

Those come in beautiful forms like al pastor with pork and pineapple and the chapulines with toasted, adobo-seasoned grasshoppers on guacamole. And since you may or may not need a drink after delving into that last one, let’s get you one of those.

Perhaps a Jamaican Jackass with vodka, ginger and hibiscus. You’ll find it at the long-running bar, the focal point of the space. Take it and make for the patio and a seat at one of the long, concrete benches. The drinks go late here on Fridays and Saturdays. Specifically, until 2am.
