Description

We understand. With everything going on, it’s slightly frightening to see the word “atomic” used in a sentence. Please bear with us… Because from Atomic Liquors, the town’s oldest freestanding bar, arises the Kitchen at Atomic, a neighboring den of comfort food and cocktails in an otherwise cruel world. It’s now open on Fremont Street. (Seek shelter, and fries, in this slideshow.) In Atomic Liquors’ heyday, you might find the Rat Pack drinking here or guests on the roof watching atomic tests exploding out in the desert. It was a different, similar time. Nowadays, it’s you and whatever pack you run passing tufted leather booths and historic Vegas photos to command the outdoor patio Atomic Kitchen shares with its progenitor. Smoked amber ales and Aquavit-basil-pepper cocktails will be procured. Naturally. Then the edible part of your journey will begin. First by splitting something playful like fries smothered in beer cheese and chili. Thereafter, by ordering the surf-n-turf with foie gras butter. And who knows? Maybe you’ll still get a bite of the BBBLT with duck, pork, and turkey bacon you strongly urged that one friend to order. The one who remains powerless in the face of peer pressure.
