You’ve Got to Try These Balinese Sundaes from the Van Leeuwen Team

But what are Balinese sundaes, you may be wondering. Well, they’re a collaboration between Brooklyn-based vegan ice cream company Van Leeuwen and Indonesian-inspired Greenpoint neighborhood joint Selamat Pagi (same owners, turns out)—and they combine flavors pulled from one of said owner’s Australian upbringing and the team’s extensive travels in Indonesia. 

Meant to celebrate the start of spring, the offerings include a vegan toasted coconut ice cream sundae with coconut whipped cream, caramel sauce and peanut brittle dust, and a ultra-dark chocolate sorbet option with coconut whipped cream, candied kumquats and earl grey waffle cone pieces. 

And if any of that sounds good (we know, it all sounds good), you can try them at Van Leeuwen’s Williamsburg, Lower East Side, Seaport and East Village locations or fine them on Selamat Pagi’s dessert menu.
