Description

The weight of history can be a powerful thing.

Bars that survived the 1906 earthquake.

Houses built by distillers during Prohibition.

Places like that always have a certain something to them. Something that just makes them better. Stronger. Immortal, even.

So when an iconic, 153-year-old boot brand opens their first West Coast store in Lower Pac Heights, it’s safe to assume that your feet are going to be in good… hands.

Right. Let’s go ahead and get to the long-awaited arrival of Frye, whose West Coast flagship is now open on Fillmore. Check it out.

The first things you’ll notice, of course, are the boots. Entering into the warm, wooded space with exposed beams, glance to the left. You’ll spot classic Campus boots, Chelseas and all-purpose Engineers over there. To the right, lady boots. Also nice. The holidays: still a thing.

And this isn’t a hands-off situation, naturally. Touch the boots. Feel the leather sneakers. Really get in there on those loafers and bags.

You’ll also want to get handsy with the interactive Maker Wall in the back, a new feature exclusive to the San Francisco store. It’s where you can learn more about boots and Frye’s history and generally feel good about the important footwear-related decisions you’re making.

It just wants you to be happy.
